Last updated 22 September 2026 · App: com.railbuzz.app
These terms govern your use of the RailBuzz mobile application and railbuzz.in. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use RailBuzz.
1. What RailBuzz is
RailBuzz shows Indian Railways train information and lets passengers on the same train talk to each other in a chat room for that journey.
RailBuzz is not an official Indian Railways channel. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for Indian Railways, IRCTC, or any government body. We do not sell tickets, and we cannot change your booking.
2. You must be 18 or older
RailBuzz is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The app puts you in conversation with strangers travelling on the same train, and we do not operate the parental-consent mechanisms that Indian law requires for users under 18.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it. If you believe a minor is using RailBuzz, email grievance@railbuzz.in.
3. Your account
- You sign in with a mobile number, verified by a one-time code. One account per number.
-
Other passengers see only a generated alias such as
Rider-A3F2. Your mobile number is never shown to them. Your name and email, if you give one, are never shown either. - Anonymity between passengers is not anonymity from us. We retain the account behind each message so that reports, sanctions and lawful requests mean something.
- Keep your phone and your number secure. You are responsible for what is posted from your account.
4. What you must not post
You agree not to host, display, upload, publish, transmit, store, update or share anything that:
- belongs to another person and to which you do not have any right;
- is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another's privacy including bodily privacy, insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, or encourages money laundering or gambling;
- is harmful to a child, or relates to or encourages any act harmful to a child;
- infringes a patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right;
- deceives or misleads about the origin of a message, or knowingly communicates information which is patently false or misleading but may reasonably be perceived as a fact;
- impersonates another person;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States, or public order, or causes incitement to the commission of any cognisable offence, or prevents investigation of any offence, or is insulting to any other nation;
- contains a software virus or any computer code designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer resource;
- is patently false and untrue, written or published with the intent to mislead or harass for financial gain or to cause injury to any person.
In addition, and specific to RailBuzz: do not sell things, solicit payments, claim to be railway staff or police, or share anyone's phone number, seat or berth details, home address or photographs — including your own. Everyone on that train can read what you post. Our Community Guidelines set this out in plainer language and are part of these terms.
5. Moderation, and what we can do
Passengers can report a message, and can block another passenger so they no longer see them. Reports are reviewed by a person. Automated checks decide what a human should look at — they do not decide what happens to anyone.
We may, in proportion to what happened:
- remove a message;
- pause your ability to post, usually for hours;
- restrict your account for a longer period;
- close your account permanently, for serious matters such as threats, doxxing, sexual content involving minors, or sustained harassment;
- close a chat room to new messages.
Most restrictions lapse on their own. If you think a decision was wrong, you can appeal — see Grievance Redressal.
6. Train information is indicative
Timings, platforms, coach positions, PNR status and running status come from third-party sources and may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Chat messages are passengers' opinions, not verified fact.
Do not rely on RailBuzz for a decision that matters — catching a connection, boarding, or anything involving safety. Check the official Indian Railways sources.
7. Asking for help in the app
RailBuzz lets you raise a request — a lost item, a medical problem, a platform change — to the other passengers in your train's chat room.
RailBuzz does not dispatch help. A request reaches the passengers in that one chat room and nobody else. No railway staff, no control room, no ambulance, no police. For an emergency, call Rail Madad 139, Emergency 112 or RPF 182.
Whether anybody responds is entirely up to the passengers who see it. We do not guarantee a response, and we are not responsible for what any passenger does or fails to do.
8. Your content
What you post remains yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the other passengers in that chat room, for as long as we keep it. Retention is set out in our Privacy Policy: chat is visible to passengers until shortly after the journey ends, our safety team can see it for three days, and reported messages are kept for up to 90 days.
9. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from the app menu — see Deleting your RailBuzz account, which explains exactly what is removed and when.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where we do, we will tell you why unless the law prevents it, and you may appeal.
10. Beta software
RailBuzz is in beta. Features may change or be withdrawn, and the service may be unavailable. It is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including a missed train or connection.
11. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially we will update the date above and notify you in the app. Continuing to use RailBuzz after that means you accept the change.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Hyderabad, Telangana shall have jurisdiction.
Questions about these terms, or any complaint: grievance@railbuzz.in. See Grievance Redressal for our response times and your right to escalate.
