RailBuzz chat rooms put strangers on the same train in the same conversation. These seven rules are what keep that useful rather than unpleasant. They are shown inside the app every time you enter a room, in English and six other languages, and they are published here so anyone can read them without installing anything.
The seven rules
๐ค Be Respectful
Treat fellow passengers with kindness and courtesy. Harassment, abusive language, hate speech, or personal attacks are not allowed.
๐ข Share Accurate Train Updates
Share only genuine information about delays, platforms, coaches, seat availability, pantry, routes, or other journey-related updates. Avoid rumours or misleading information.
๐ฌ Keep Chats Journey-Focused
Use the chatroom for discussions related to the current train journey. Spam, advertisements, promotions, and unrelated conversations are not permitted.
๐ Verified Passengers Only
Live chat requires mobile number verification, so everyone here is a verified passenger. Your number is never shown to other passengers. Your identity is hidden from fellow passengers, but serious abuse may be reported to the authorities where the law requires it.
๐ Protect Privacy
Never share phone numbers, seat or berth details, home addresses, or photos of people — your own included. Everyone travelling on this train can read what you post here.
๐ญ No Scams or Impersonation
Do not sell products, ask for payments, or claim to be railway staff, police, or any official. Impersonating officials is a serious offence.
๐จ Report Misuse
If you notice spam, fake updates, or inappropriate behaviour, use the Report button. Repeated violations may result in message removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account blocking by RailBuzz moderators.
What happens when a rule is broken
Reporting a message is the fastest route, and it is better than emailing us — the report captures a copy of the message, the room and the time, which an email cannot. Chat is deleted a few days after a journey ends, so a report made later may have nothing left to look at.
We act in steps rather than jumping to a ban. Repeated reports against one passenger pause their ability to post while a person looks at it. Our moderators can then remove messages, restrict posting for a period, or close an account permanently. Nothing is decided by software alone — automated checks decide what a human should look at, not what happens to anyone.
Automated checks also look at whole rooms, not just individual messages. A room that turns hostile is flagged for review. No room is closed, and no passenger is restricted, without a person deciding it.
If you think we got it wrong
Restrictions lapse on their own — most are measured in hours. If you believe a restriction or a decision was wrong, you can raise it with us and we will answer. See Grievance Redressal for how to complain and how long we take to respond.
What RailBuzz is not
RailBuzz is a community chat app. It is not an official Indian Railways channel, and it does not dispatch help. A message in a chat room reaches the passengers on that train and nobody else — no railway staff, no control room, no ambulance.
For anything urgent, call the numbers that reach people who can come: Rail Madad 139, Emergency 112, RPF 182.
